In order to provide a positive experience at the Library
for all persons, the Austin Memorial Library Board has adopted and the Cleveland
City Council has approved the following rules and regulations.
Patrons shall respect the rights of others patrons and of
Library employees. Patrons shall
not harass or annoy others through any activity.
- Patrons
shall not use cellular phones inside the library.
- Patrons
using the Internet shall be considerate of others.
Patrons shall not display images on public computer screen that are
disturbing to other Library users.
- Patrons
shall not consume food, beverages, or use tobacco products in the Library,
except where permitted.
- Patrons
under the age of 18 shall not use Internet computers to receive or view
obscene or sexually explicit matter that is harmful to minors unless
accompanied by a parent or guardian. Patrons
under the age of 18 shall not use the Internet without parental approval.
- Patrons
shall not interfere with the use of the Library by other patrons or
interfere with Library employees as they perform their duties.
- Patrons
shall not damage or deface Library property.
- Patrons
shall enter the Library appropriately attired, including shirt and footwear.
- Each
patron shall be responsible for any fines, fees, or other charges due in
accordance with the Library’s established fines and fees schedule.
Failure to comply will result in the suspension of borrowing
privileges.
- All
materials removed from the Library must be checked out on a valid library
card.
- Patrons
shall not make any solicitations in the Library.
- Patrons
shall not leave children under the age of 10 unattended.
- Patrons
shall not leave minors on the Library property before or after open hours.
Patron identification, including name, address, and
telephone number may be requested. Any
patron not abiding by these or other rules and regulations of the library may be
required to leave the Library premises and may forfeit their Library privileges.
Any patron may appeal to the City Manager of Cleveland in respect to any
action taken under this Code of Conduct.
